Frequently asked questions
The count isn’t loading, or a warning appears
The app reads publicly visible profile pages, and Instagram sometimes rate-limits requests for a while. The app keeps showing the last good count and retries automatically on the next cycle — usually it recovers within a few minutes without you doing anything.
If it persists: check the spelling of the username in Settings, make sure the device is online, and keep the refresh interval at 5 minutes or slower for long sessions.
Do I need to log in with my Instagram account?
No — never. The app only needs a public username. It has no login screen, never asks for a password, and couldn’t transmit one anywhere even if you typed it.
Which accounts can I display?
Any account whose profile page is publicly reachable — follower counts are shown by Instagram even for private accounts. Post and following counts appear when available.
How often does the number refresh?
Every 5 minutes by default; you can choose 1–30 minutes in Settings. There’s also a manual refresh button, and the app refreshes whenever it returns to the foreground.
What can the QR code link to?
Anything. Leave the link field empty and it points to your profile (“scan to follow”), or paste any URL — contest rules, a website, a booking page. Show it as a small card always in the corner, or as a full-screen takeover every few minutes.
What is demo mode?
Demo mode (Settings → Demo mode) simulates a slowly growing count without any network — perfect for trying every style, testing the confetti, or setting up your screen before an event.
Tips for kiosk use at events
Keep “Keep screen awake” on (default) and plug the device into power. On OLED screens enable “Pixel-shift” in Settings for long sessions.
To stop guests from leaving the app, use iOS Guided Access: Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access, then triple-click the side button inside the app.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad running iOS/iPadOS 15 or later — that includes iPads back to iPad Air 2 (2014) and iPhones back to iPhone 6s / SE.
Why does the count sometimes say “approximate”?
When Instagram’s page only exposes a rounded figure (like “12.5K”), the app shows the closest number and marks it approximate. The exact count usually returns on a later refresh.
Is this an official Instagram app?
No. Follower Insta Board is an independent app, not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. It displays the same publicly visible numbers anyone can see in a web browser.
